Title: Rotaviruses in Uganda: Molecular Epidemiology and Potential of Zoonotic Transmission

Dr . Josephine Bwogi is a Ugandan Registred at Makerere University, She is a Research Officer and Head EPI Division at Uganda Virus Research Institute. She is interested in research on vaccine preventable diseases and Febrile illnesses. She under took her first degree in Medicine and Surgery and a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Makerere University.

For her PhD, she will work on “Rotaviruses in Uganda: Molecular Epidemiology and potential of zoonotic transmission”, in which, she will look at interspecies transmission of rotaviruses, genetic reassortment and associated factors. She will be supervised by Assoc. Prof Charles Karamagi, Clinical Epidemiology Unit, School of Health Sciences, Makerere University, Dr. Ulrich Desselberger, Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, UK, Dr. Miren Iturriza-Gomara, Virus Reference Department, Health Protection Agency, UK, and Dr. Sam Malamba, CDC, Uganda Virus Research Institute. She will collaborate with Dr. Denis Byarugaba, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Makerere University.
