Message From the AESA Team
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the second edition of the DELTAS Africa Newsletter. Judging by your feedback, the maiden edition was exciting, and we hope to build on that success to ensure the time you spend reading this and future editions is worthwhile. This edition covers a wide range of issues and exciting events across the DELTAS Africa community of practice and highlights a few key messages from the second DELTAS Grantees Annual General meeting in Ghana in July. The meeting, which was themed, ‘showcasing the best so far’, was a culmination of excellent team work from all Deltoids, with AESA and WACCBIP having led the effort. Grand merci a tous.
We hope you were inspired by our keynote speakers – Nobel Laureate Peter Agre, Ghana’s Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Health, Mr Kingesly Aboagye Gyedu and Rwanda’s former Minister of Health and current Vice Chancellor of Global University of Health Equity, Prof Agnes Binagwaho. They each spoke of how they overcame the challenges of pursuing careers in science. We hope this inspired, particularly, the DELTAS Africa Fellows and ignited your ambitions of becoming globally-competitive research leaders.
