Thank you for the tremendous support extended to THRiVE in 2019 and we hope that you will continue the same way in 2020. We live in a world faced with numerous complex health challenges that require more than ever before international cooperation to solve them. Concurrently contemporary organizations and scientific research tend to emphasize teamwork and
cohesiveness. This makes THRiVE, much more relevant than before. For you reading this Newsletter and other like-minded individuals it is our singular and collective responsibility to play significant roles in ensuring THRiVE’s continued growth to become a self-sustaining network. Like think tanks, this consortium will thrive on social interaction with our stakeholders
to create or identify solutions of health challenges translatable into improvement in peoples’ health and wellbeing. Our efforts in science and enhancing research capacity have the potential to pay enormous dividends that would contribute to fuelling Africa’s economic engine. However, we continue to be challenged by the persistent question of how to accurately
measure the impact of scientific training, research and development investment on national economic growth.
