“Owning our future through community engagement: enhancing uptake of COVID-19 prevention and mitigation measures”

Background
Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) in partnership with Makerere University College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) with funding from Uganda government through Makerere University Research and Innovations Fund (RIF) are Implementing a study in Nakawa and Kawempe Divisions of Kampala. The study aims to assess the impact of a community engagement risk communication (CERC) intervention using a mixed methods community-controlled trial and will specifically assess the acceptance and uptake of prevention measures of COVID-19 among vulnerable populations in urban and peri-urban communities of the above named divisions in Kampala District.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistants will;

  • Participate in the development and pre-testing of data collection tools and interview guides
  • Conduct qualitative studies using anthropological methods (conversations and Focused Groups Discussions) and also conducting baseline and end line surveys
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of the community engagement intervention
  • Participate in data cleaning and entry
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Principal Investigator

Education Qualificationvc

    •  Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, health related disciplines, statistics and any other training related to working with communities.
      Experience, Skills and other Requirements
    • Prior experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection methods
    • Highly ethical in conducting research and collecting high quality data
    • Proficiency in the English language (written and Spoken) and Luganda (spoken)
    • Excellent Communication, Organisation and Interpersonal skills
    • Moderation and note taking skills
