Supervisor Training Workshop (28th-30th Nov, 2017)- icipe Duduville Campus

The aim of this 2-day workshop is to assist supervisors of postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to achieve higher standards of practice in the supervision process to the benefit of both parties. The workshop will be highly interactive, containing a mixture of presentations and group work. Participants will also hear about real-life situations and institution supervision cultures, and share their most significant priorities and challenges as a supervisor. The workshop is suitable for supervisors new to supervision or more experienced supervisors.

Workshop trainer
The lead trainer for the workshop is Professor David Mills, Associate Professor in Pedagogy and the Social Sciences in the Department of Education, University of Oxford. His research interests in higher education include doctoral education, research ‘capacity-building’, and African university cultures.

Eligibility

  • Supervisors of THRiVE funded postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • 15 places are available to THRiVE Consortium Members

Cost
There is no cost for the workshop. However, participants must pay for their own travel and accommodation. Accommodation is available at the icipe Duduville Campus Guest Centre. The cost per night is $90, including meals.
