UVRI-THRIVE-2 Graduate INTERN Scholarship

THRiVE to Research Excellence (THRiVE-2) is a 5-year project implemented by a consortium of East African universities and research Institutions funded by the DELTAS Africa Initiative. DELTAS African Initiative is a funding scheme of the Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA) with funding from the Wellcome Trust grant and the UK government. (Wellcome Trust and UK Aid). The main goal of THRiVE-2 is to enhance the transformation of the East African Universities into world-class research hubs by spearheading the transition of PhD and post-doctoral fellows into health research leaders.

Individuals who have just completed their Undergraduate and or Masters training at any recognised University in East Africa up to a period of two years are invited to apply for UVRI-THRiVE internship positon for a period of up to six months to support THRiVE-UVRI Office to achieve the consortium objectives including Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). THRiVE focuses on infectious diseases/neglected tropical diseases (IDs/NTDs), maternal, neonatal and reproductive health (MN/RH) and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

There will be one internship award for a period of up to six months. The successful applicant will work with the Research Support and Networking offices and Core labs at UVRI and will also be expected to participate in writing a scientific publication.

Applications should include a 300 word outline describing why you would like to undertake the internship. You should also attach a Curriculum Vitae.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 19th May 2017.
